Fire Tulip - Procreate Painting
Completed this over a week ago but forgot to post it here ¬_¬' just like I forgot about needing to paint it for about a month after my bro TheBigDaveC gave me the photo this is based on.

Process video: Tulip Timelapse

The background's not my best work, but it wasn't the intended focus of the piece, so eh.

Sketched with the HB/6B pencil tools, and painted using the Gouache tool, the Oil Paints tool, and various miscellaneous ones.

Rain the Anthropomorphic Usul - 2008-2011-2018
Needless to say, really proud of how far I've come in 7 years. Those dress folds were SUPER fun to do. And my god, proper socks and shoes! The fuzzy neck thing that doesn't look like shit like every time I drew it back then! And a legitimate belt. Damn good. Haven't fed this girl in forever, she'd probably dead.

To put this in perspective, the oldest one was done with fineliners, felt tips and colouring pencils on cheap-ass printer paper. The second was done *maybe* on paper and coloured using ArtRage back when I was first learning layers, And the third was sketched, lined, flat-coloured and shaded in Photoshop over the course of maybe a week's worth of work. As a kid self-teaching myself digital art I'd never imagined I could one day make art of this caliber, this competently and cohesively. And look, hands that aren't just uncooked chips shoved in a potato! Aaaaaaah!

The two others exist in their own comparison in my gallery at

The Nether Squad - Digital Full Colour
Still really happy with this. The character that probably deviated most from my original designs of her is Glowstone; I really wanted to be really true to the block with regards to the colours present, when previous colour tests had been mostly different tones of gold :)

The Nether Squad - Traditional Colour
Digital lineart I drew from a draw the squad challenge and ended up colouring to test using Copic markers for the first time. I made a full digital version later, and have lots more stuff with these guys and the other Minecraft Gems in store. I'll impart more thoughts in the digital version.

A 2018 update. I'm not a ghost in the arterlife.

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 26, 2018, 5:23 PM
My art output has increased so much in recent months, probably within the last year (at least, in the sense of completed and halfway-completed pieces I'd want to put here), that I feel comfortable putting my art here regularly again. My absence and very rare art post in recent years was mostly due to college - I didn't really get a good laptop to do art on until I actually started studying art (first year pretty simple, the next HORRENDOUSLY exhausting), so even though I've successfully laptop arted in the past, most of the stuff I produced around that time wasn't anything I considered good enough or complete enough by the standards I was slowly curating. And at home around that time I didn't have any energy to art on my home computer or even use my printer for scanning the multitudinous traditional works and sketches I'd produced.

Let's talk setups. My previous home computer and desk setup was something I didn't realize was a living nightmare until I invested in a new, larger desk after moving into a new place. Think about the space in which I have to draw; my tablet's edge is flush against the rather sqaut but thick base of my monitor, and the other side is consistently dancing on the cusp of the desk's edge. This is a medium Wacom Intuos we're talking about here, it is SWAMPING what little desk space isn't taken up by my giant-ass gaming computer - My current one turned out to be larger than the previous, you can tell how fun that was. And of course, my monitor and the left of everything is usually sketchbooks and drinks, but the way the child-sized drawers and little leg of shelves were built means I couldn't simply use that area for my tablet. My arms were trapped between a very wet drink and a very expensive computer, not to mention there's no pull-out keyboard rack on that thing (modular children's furniture is sometime cheap for a reason) so it was constantly a battle of trying to get comfortable with my keyboard whenever I wanted to draw. Imagine the bigger pain in the arse a wired keyboard was before I wised up and bought a wireless set. My TV stand (and consequentially, a load of wires out in front powering the TV and various consoles) were just to the right of me, so no respite from the right.

Now, to my current setup. My current, lovely non-garbage PC sits in its own little nook underneath a really handy drawer. There's a couple small shelves, and this is the main body of the desk- where and the technical shit is. It's a little larger in length but the width from keyboard to the back is a MASSIVE improvement. I have space for so much shit just on the main body! Wedding Bowser's sitting on the little shelf by himself! And to the left of that is another section that's about two fifths of the main body in length. A long shelf, a ridiculously useful pullout tray I've used for my laptop, a shelf under that where all my sketchbooks sit, and than there's this crazy big cupboard that I'm using for art supplies. Like, I've only filled it a third of the way up, it's a TARDIS in there.

Simply put, my situation for making art at home is a 100% better than it ever has been. I can draw on my tablet with full range of motion and not be having a staring contest with my monitor, she and I were so close.

Back when I was having issues logging into Tumblr, I sorta gradually moved onto Twitter, but I haven't posted art there much because it's a less art-devoted world. I'm in a life state now where I can finally start posting back to my first art site, my dear online portfolio, and there's allot of art y'all have missed out on. I'm here and I'm producing stuff to the same rate I did at like - according to the site analytics my most frequent posts were in 2009? 2008? I don't want the online mark of my art productivity to be stuck in the past anymore.

Just needed to get these thoughts typed up for my first new journal in ages. I've spent over an hour getting this rant down in wordpad and I'm happy I did. The big blocks of text are probably hard to appreciate, but hey, I was writing before I was drawing.

Prints

...I finally did something worthy of becoming a print. That, and it actually showed up in lots of print formats, unlike other stuff I've done in the past :D

I'm a 22 year old digital and traditional artist, working fundamentally in cartoonist or painterly styles.
Kinda dumb that there's no category for people who've gone through all the studies but devote far more to the craft than a mere hobbyist, but eh. I completed two courses for this resolution.
